As a personal learning project, I used Python and publicly available data on dog licenses in New York City to create an agent-based model of a hypothetical infectious disease spreading among young dogs in NYC. I implemented a quarantine intervention to demonstrate how a reduction in contacts affects the spread of disease. I created animated figures to show my results.
As an intern at Lurie Children's Hospital, I analyzed data from the 2022 Healthy Chicago Survey Jr. and co-authored a report on concerns Chicago adults have for youth today. I contributed to the analysis and the wrote sections related to the outcome of the analysis.
As a personal learning project, I downloaded publicly available data from the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System. I created a macro to extract records based on keywords and automatically generate graphs showing temporal trends in 3 ways: over 4 year, by calendar month, and by day of the week. Through exploration I found several interesting trends which I have graphed out. This is not meant to be a rigorous analysis, but a system for generating hypotheses and quickly looking at the data. This project was implemented in SAS and then re-implemented and updated in R.
My team and I worked on a research question of my design using data from the Youth Risk Behavioral Surveillance System. We looked at the difference between the prevalence of suicidal thoughts and plans for teens who had or had not experienced sexual violence. This project was completed using SAS and Tableau during my time as a graduate student at UIC.
I used SAS, Tableau and data from the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office while creating a concise project proposal for a supportive housing initiative focused on helping those with behavioral health diagnoses in Chicago recover. This project was completed during my time as a graduate student at UIC.
In this exploratory project I used linear regression to create a predictive model for violent crime in the United States by county. This project was completed using SAS and Tableau during my time as a graduate student at UIC.
